Friday 2/28/14

Today first period will be taking Ch.8 test.  The rest of the classes will be starting Ch.9.   First students will create a word search using their vocabulary.   Word Search  They will they then bring it up to me and I will give them another students word search and they will need to complete it.  After completing the word search they will then read pgs 278-282 pgs. 278-282.   After completing the reading students will be working on Washington Takes Office. Washington Takes Office

Thursday 2/27/14

Today during first period today all students throughout the school will be taking an SBAC math test.   Second period today will be taking the Ch.8 test then they will be working on Ch.9 vocabulary.  Ch.9 Vocab.   Periods 3-6 Students will watch a couple School House Rock videos on government.  Then they will take a citizenship test. Citizenship Test

Wednesday 2/26/14

Today for periods 1-2 we will have guest speakers in the building as part Career Day.  Once Career Day is over students will be taking Ch.8 test.  When students are finished taking test they will be working on Chapter 9 vocabulary Ch.9 Vocab.   Just a reminder if you do not do well on your test you have the option to retake your test.

Tuesday 2/25/14

Today we will be correcting the homework from yesterday.  We will then take notes on Ch.8 section 5.   We will then spend the rest of the reviewing for the test that will be tomorrow.  Ch.8 Test Practice

Monday 2/24/14

Today we will check the homework from last Friday.   Then we will take notes on Section 2 and 3.  Please refer to Ch.8 Assignments to get a copy of the notes.  We will then read pgs. 265-268.   The homework for the day will be questions 2-5 on pg. 268.  pg. 265-268   Maybe worth your time to look at this practice test. Practice Test Ch.8  On Wednesday periods 3-5 will be taking chapter 8 test.   Periods 1 and 2 will not take test until Thursday due to career day on Wednesday during periods 1 and 2.  

Friday 2/21/14

Today students will be watching CNN http://www.cnn.com/studentnews/.   Then students will have ten minutes to finish there homework.   Students will then read pages 262-264 Pages 262-264.   Then students will create web notes to go along with the reading.  Here is an example of the web notes.  example

Thursday 2/20/14

Today all students will be receiving a progress report that they can take home and receive 10 extra credit points for returning it signed by a legal guardian on Friday.  As a class we will read pages 259-261 pgs. 259-261.   After the reading the rest of the period will be spent working on the Constitution Bingo and the Electoral College assignment.  Bingo         Electoral College Wks.

Wednesday 2/19/14

Today students will correcting their homework assignment from yesterday (Constitution Quiz Wks.)  We will then take Chapter 8 Section 2 notes (SEE CHAPTER 8 FOLDER FOR A COPY OF NOTES).   Students will then take a short quiz on the constitution.   The rest of the period will be spent looking at how the electoral college systems works Electoral College.   Electoral College assignment will be due on Friday Electoral College Wks..

Tuesday 2/18/14

I hope all of you enjoyed your 3 day weekends.  Today we will be correcting the homework from last Friday.  (quiz 8.2 and guided 8.2).  Next we will be taking Chapter 8 Section 1 notes.   The rest of the period students will be working on Constitution Wks. Constitution wks and bingo.  There will be a short quiz on the Constitution tomorrow.  

Friday 2/14/14

Today students will be turning in their weekly entry task along with yesterdays homework (Ch.8 Quiz 1 front and back along with Ch.8 Section 1 wks.).  Today students will be reading pages 252-257  Pages 252-257 orally.  After the reading students will be working on Ch.8 Section 2 wks Ch.8 Section 2 wks.  along with  Ch.8 Quiz 2 wks  Ch.8 Quiz 2.  Both willl be due on Tuesday.  I would also like to THANK ETHAN for bringing Dairy Queen to my third period class.

Thursday 2/13/14

Today the class will be divided into half again.  Half of the class will be working on the computers on a scavenger hunt if they worked on the book assignment yesterday.   Scavenger Hunt.   The half of the class that worked on the computers yesterday will be working on book assignment.     Book pg. 249-251

Wednesday 2/12/14

Today all students will be taking a pre-test for Chapter 8.   Then the class will be divided in half.  Half of the students will be working on an internet scavenger hunt.   Scavenger Hunt   The other part of the class will be working on section 1 chapter 8.   The pages they are responsible for are pgs. 249-251 along with Ch.8 Quiz 1 wks front and back and Guided reading 8.1 wks.  Book pgs. 249-251   Ch.8 Quiz 1 Front and Back         Guided 8.1

Tuesday 2/11/14

Today students will be watch two short video clips from youtube.  Then students will be watching a video called a Healthy Constitution and answering some questions that go along with it.  Healthy Constitution

Monday 2/10/14

Today students will be presenting their Bill of Rights Mural that we have been working on the last few days in class.   We will also start watching a Healthy Constitution and will be finishing watching it tomorrow.  Just a reminder there will be a book check on Wednesday and Thursday.  Bill of Rights Rubric

Today students will be finishing up the Bill of Rights Mural.  Students will be presenting their murals on Monday during class.  

Thursday 2/6/2014

Today we will be taking a vocabulary quiz on the Chapter 8 vocabulary.   The rest of the period will be spent working on the Bill of Rights Mural.  The Bill of Rights Mural is due on Monday.   The Bill of Rights requirements are as follows:   1. Must have a title.   2.  Must represent the first ten amendments using drawings only no WORDS, LETTERS, OR NUMBERS.   3.  Each box must be numbered.  4.  Must include and answer sheet.  Please see me with specific questions.  Bill of Rights Rubric

Wednesday 2/5/14

Today in class we will be correcting the Ch.8 Vocabulary along with the Forms of Government Packet.  Then will be begin looking at the Bill of Rights.    Students will pick groups and create a mural explaining the Bill of Rights through pictures.  The project will be due on Monday.

In class today students will be watching the State of the Union address and will be answering questions that go along with it.   Don't forget Ch.8 Vocabulary is due tomorrow.   Ch.8 Vocab
