Today first thing students will be working on Ch.6 vocabulary which will be due on Wednesday.   During this time I will also give students their results from Ch.5 test that they took on Friday.  The last 25 minutes of class will be spent watching a video called "Taking Liberties".  Reminder if students are not happy with test grades students can retake the test on their on time.

Today we are going to take notes on Section 3.  Then we will spend the rest of the period reviewing for the test on Friday.

I will be absent today due to a school function.  Students will be turning in their entry task.  Then they will be taking Ch.5 Test.  The rest of the period will be spent working on Ch.6 Vocab Ch.6 which will be due on  Tuesday.

Today we took notes on Ch. 5 section 2.  Then we  finished reading the rest of section 3 pgs. 158-160 pg. 155-160.   After we finish the reading we will then watch a short animation on Paul Reveres Ride.   Don't forget we will have a test on Friday.

Sorry I didnt post yesterday.  I left my IPAD at home and was not able to scan documents onto my web page.   On this day the first thing we did was take Ch.5 pretest.   After that we read from the text book pgs. 140-142 Pg. 140-145.   Then the rest of the period students will design a crossword using Ch.5 vocabulary.   Crossword

Today first thing we do is correct the HW from yesterday which was the crossword.   We will then read a hand-out on the French and Indian War French and Indian War.   After this we will take notes on Ch.5 section 1.  Then the rest of the period will be spent working on guided reading wks along with the Treaty of Paris Wks.  Guided 5.1 and Treaty of Paris Wks.

Today students will be first reading a short article on the Great Awakening Great Awakening.   Then the rest of the period will be spent reviewing latitude and longitude along with time zones.   All of these papers will be due Friday.   Latitude/Long Packet    Time Zone Wks.  If students finish everything they can spend the rest of the period working on Vocab. Ch.5.

Mr.Carlson was gone.   Students were expected to read pgs. 87-91 pg. 87-91as a class.   Then they are expected to do pg. 91 1-5 and answer questions in complete sentences.   When they are finished with that then they are expected to do Wks. Ch.3 Quiz 4 and Vocab Builder Ch. 3 Quiz 4 and Vocab Builder.  All three of these assignments were due on Tuesday.

Tuesday
Today we will first go over pg. 91 1-5 as a class which give students an opportunity to improve their answers.  Then they will turn it in for grade.   We will then correct the Wks. as a class.  Then we will take Ch.3 Section 4 notes.  We will then read pgs. 93-97 pg. 93-97as class.  The HW will be guided reading 3.5 Guided 3.5.  This will be due tomorrow.  On Wednesday we will be reviewing for our test on Thursday.

Today we will be correcting Ch.3 Guided Reading Section 1.   Then we will read pgs. 74-78 pg. 74-78as a class.  The rest of the period will be spent working on the map.  Which is due on Thursday!

Mr. Carlson was not present in class today he was filling in the office as sub for the principal.   Today students turned in their entry task then read pgs. 42-48 Pg. 42-48 as a class.   The assignment for the day was pg. 48 3-6 and wks. Ch.2 Quiz 2 front and back Ch.2 Quiz 2 Front and Back.  Questions must be answered in complete sentences and its all due on Monday.

I am very sorry about the late post, i was gone on Thursday.   First thing students did with the sub is read pgs 26-30 pg. 26-30.   After the reading students were to work pg. 30 questions 2-4 with complete sentence answers.   Then they should be working Ch.1 Quiz 4 wks Ch.1 Quiz 4 Front and Back along with the backside which reviews some basic geography.  All of this was due on Friday September 19.

Friday September 19

Today we will start class by talking about how important a primary source is when you look at history.   Today we will be watching a video on 9/11.   The video has many clips of live footage of the after math of the attack on the World Trade Centers.   The video is an outstanding representation of how a primary source portrays an event.   It's not sugar coated its real live history.

Today students will be taking there Semester Pre-Test.   This will be used to compare to the test they take in the end of January.   While students are taking test we will also be checking out text books.   Students are free to take text books home and dont need to bring them to class.   After students are finished with test they will continue working on Ch.1 vocabulary.

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer.    I am very excited about being back in the classroom.  Today we are doing things a little than most classrooms do on a first day.   As a student I hated the first day because all the teachers did all period was talk about rules and regulations.  This got very boring to me after hearing 6 different teachers do this.   So we are going to jump right into things and get started with Chapter 1 Vocabulary Ch.1 Vocab then on Thursday we will be going classroom rules and procedures.

On these two days we were outside shooting a  replica Civil War cannon.  This was a wonderful hands on learning experience for our students.

Today we will be turning in Ch.15 and Ch.16 vocab along the Missouri Compromise Wks/Dred Scott Wks.  The permission slips Permission Slip for the cannon firing will also be going out today.   Then we will start looking at the roles each individual will have during the cannon firing next Tuesday and Wednesday. Cannon Crew.   We also be watching a couple short video clips on how the cannon firing will go.   Important Web Site.  After this we will be working on Ch.17 vocabulary Ch.17 Vocabulary.

Today as class we will be reading pgs. 460-466 and discussing the Missouri Compromise Missouri Compromise and the Compromise of 1850.  Then I will pass out the wks. Missouri Compromise and Ch.15 and Ch.16 Ch.15 and Ch.16  vocabulary which are both due on Monday.  As students are working on these assignments we will be watching the video History of US (Division).

Today students will be reading pgs. 391-393 391-393.  After the reading and discussing those pages students will then watch Oregon Trail Series Part 2.  There are questions from their packet that go with this.   There will also be quiz following all four parts.  The last minutes of class students will be working the wks from their packet Ch.13 Quiz 3 front and back.  Packet is due May 9th.

Today first thing as a class we will scan pgs. 336-341 pgs. 336-341 looking for improvements or inventions that took place the Industrial Revolution.   Then the rest of the period students will be working on their 4 square projects or Ch.11 and Ch.12 vocabulary.   Also during this time I will be showing a video showing how the Nez Perce were forced onto the reservation.  The video is called, " I Will Fight No More Forever"

First thing today students will be reading pgs. 330-335 pg. 330-335.  After completing the reading students will then be introduced to the 4 Square project which will be due next Tuesday.   For the 4 Square Project students will be required to draw and color 4 inventions or improvements from 1791 to 1804.  Then on the back students will be required to write about the new inventions.  For more details please refer to the packet.

Today students will be taking Chapter 10 test.   As always students have the option to re-take test before school or after school.  After completing test students will have a few minutes to finish last weeks packet and map.  Then students will being the Ch.11 and Ch.12 packet Ch.11 and 12 Contract/Packet which will be due next Tuesday April 22.  

Monday April 14th

Today students will be completing their packets Packets April 7th -April 15th and their War of 1812 maps Map of 1812.  Both of these will be due at the end of the period on Tuesday April 15th.

Thursday April 10, 2014

Today we will take notes on Ch.10 section 3 after that students will watch a video on the War of 1812.   The questions for the video are in the packet they received on Monday.  

Tuesday and Wednesday April 8th and 9th

First of all sorry there was no post yesterday.  I was at home with a sick kid.   On Tuesday as a class we read pgs. 316-319 Pages 316-319.  We also read a journal entry from Lewis and Clark.   After that students spent the rest of the period working on their contracts they received on Monday.  Students should be completing wks. 10.4.

Today Wednesday April 9th students will be responsible to read pgs. 320-235 pgs. 320-325 .  Then students will spend the rest of the period working on their contract.  They should be focusing in on Wks. 10.5 and the Jackson Trap Map.

Monday April 7, 2014

Today students will be taking notes on Ch.10 Section 2.  Then we will read pgs. 312-315 Pgs. 312-314 as a class.  Then since we start SBAC scheduling tomorrow we will be doing things slightly different.   Students will be receiving a contract and required to complete different parts of it each day.  This contract will be due next Monday Contract Ch.10.  

Tuesday 3/25/2014

First thing today students will take notes on Chapter 10 Section 2 while I lecture.  I don't require notes but I highly encourage students to do so because they can use them on the test.  After a short section of notes students will then watch a Lewis and Clark video and record a few facts from the video.

Monday 3/24/2014

Today is the last day to turn in late or missing assignments for them to appear on the 3rd quarter report card.  Today we will first correct our homework from the last three days.  Then the rest of period will be a quiet work period to help students get caught up.

Wednesday 3/19/14

Today as a class we will read pgs. 306-310  pgs. 306-310 as class.  Then students will spend the rest of the period working on Guided Reading 10.2 Ch.10 Guideded 10.2 and Ch.10 Quiz 2 Ch.10 Quiz 2.  This will not be due until Monday because I will be absent the rest of the week.  MONDAY IS LAST DAY TO TURN IN LATE AND MISSING WORK!!!

THURSDAY 3/20/2014

Today students will be watching a Lewis and Clark video.  During the video students will be expected to write down 20 facts.  These facts are expected to be written in complete sentences.


FRIDAY 3/21/2014

Today students will be turning in their entry task.   After turning in their entry task students will be taking an open book Lewis and Clark Quiz Lewis and Clark Quiz.  After taking the Lewis and Clark students will read the Thomas Jefferson Packet Thomas Jefferson Packet as class.  Then as individuals students will complete this packet.  In conclusion students will do questions on pg. 310 -3-5.  All of this will be due Monday.

Tuesday 3/18/14

First thing today we correcting the Ch.10 wks Quiz 1 then we will take Ch.10 Section 1 notes because we ran out of time to take notes yesterday.  After taking notes students will then get onto the computers with a partner and do the Lewis Clark informational wks Lewis and Clark Scavenger Hunt.  It will be due at the end of the period.

Monday 3/17/14

Today students will be correcting last weeks homework (Ch.10 Vocab and Guided Reading 10.1).  After correcting the homework students will take Ch.10 Pretest.  Next students will take a vocab quiz on Ch.10.   To wrap up the period students will take Ch.10 notes section 1 then the homework will be Ch.10 Quiz 1 Ch.10 Quiz 1.

Friday 3/14/14

First thing today students will be watching CNN student news http://www.cnn.com/studentnews/

 followed by a discussion of current events taking place.  We will then be reading pgs. 302-305 pgs. 302-305.  After the reading students will be on wks called Jefferson Takes Office Jefferson Takes Office.

Thursday 3/13/14

The first few minutes of class we will spend a few minutes reviewing for the test.   Then all students will take Ch.9 test.  Just a reminder students can re-take any test before school, lunch, or after school.   After completing their test students will have option to start Ch.10 Vocab Ch.10 Vocabulary or finish their timeline which is due TODAY.  

Wednesday 3/12/14

Today students will be taking Ch.9 section 4 notes.   This will be the last section of notes before the test on Thursday.  Just reminder any notes you take you can use on your test.   After notes students will have some time to work on their timelines which be due on Thursday after the test.   The last few minutes of class we will spend reviewing for the test.   This is a good review sheet for the test.  Practice Test

Tuesday 3/11/14

Today students will be reading pgs. 291-294 pgs. 291-294 aloud with the teacher. Then students will be doing wks. 9.4 Wks. 9.4 which will be due on Wednesday.   After completing the wks. students will spend the rest of the period working on their Timeline Timeline Examples which will be due on Thursday.

Monday 3/10/14

First thing students will be doing correcting the homework from last Wednesday which is Ch.9 Section 3 wks. front and back along with pg. 290 3-6.  After correcting then students will be taking notes on section 2 and 3.  The last part of the of the period students will be working on creating a timeline for Ch.9.  Timeline Project

Wednesday students will be taking a vocab quiz.  Then students will be reading pages 287-290 pgs. 287-290.  After completing the reading students will be working on the questions on pg. 290 3-6.  Then students will do the worksheet chapter 9.3 Wks.9.3 Front and Back front and back.

Thursday students will be working the counselors on their 4 year plans.

Today we will be correcting last weeks Vocab word search and Chapter 9 Vocabulary.  We will then begin Ch.9 by reading pages 278-282 pages 278-282 because we didn't get there last Friday.   Students will then work on Washington Takes Office and Ch.9 Quiz 1Washington Takes Office/ Ch.9 quiz 1.   Which will be due on Tuesday.

Today for periods 1-2 we will have guest speakers in the building as part Career Day.  Once Career Day is over students will be taking Ch.8 test.  When students are finished taking test they will be working on Chapter 9 vocabulary Ch.9 Vocab.   Just a reminder if you do not do well on your test you have the option to retake your test.

Tuesday 2/25/14

Monday 2/24/14

Today we will check the homework from last Friday.   Then we will take notes on Section 2 and 3.  Please refer to Ch.8 Assignments to get a copy of the notes.  We will then read pgs. 265-268.   The homework for the day will be questions 2-5 on pg. 268.  pg. 265-268   Maybe worth your time to look at this practice test. Practice Test Ch.8  On Wednesday periods 3-5 will be taking chapter 8 test.   Periods 1 and 2 will not take test until Thursday due to career day on Wednesday during periods 1 and 2.  

Friday 2/21/14

Today students will be watching CNN http://www.cnn.com/studentnews/.   Then students will have ten minutes to finish there homework.   Students will then read pages 262-264 Pages 262-264.   Then students will create web notes to go along with the reading.  Here is an example of the web notes.  example

Thursday 2/20/14

Today all students will be receiving a progress report that they can take home and receive 10 extra credit points for returning it signed by a legal guardian on Friday.  As a class we will read pages 259-261 pgs. 259-261.   After the reading the rest of the period will be spent working on the Constitution Bingo and the Electoral College assignment.  Bingo         Electoral College Wks.

Wednesday 2/19/14

Today students will correcting their homework assignment from yesterday (Constitution Quiz Wks.)  We will then take Chapter 8 Section 2 notes (SEE CHAPTER 8 FOLDER FOR A COPY OF NOTES).   Students will then take a short quiz on the constitution.   The rest of the period will be spent looking at how the electoral college systems works Electoral College.   Electoral College assignment will be due on Friday Electoral College Wks..

I hope all of you enjoyed your 3 day weekends.  Today we will be correcting the homework from last Friday.  (quiz 8.2 and guided 8.2).  Next we will be taking Chapter 8 Section 1 notes.   The rest of the period students will be working on Constitution Wks. Constitution wks and bingo.  There will be a short quiz on the Constitution tomorrow.  

Friday 2/14/14

Today students will be turning in their weekly entry task along with yesterdays homework (Ch.8 Quiz 1 front and back along with Ch.8 Section 1 wks.).  Today students will be reading pages 252-257  Pages 252-257 orally.  After the reading students will be working on Ch.8 Section 2 wks Ch.8 Section 2 wks.  along with  Ch.8 Quiz 2 wks  Ch.8 Quiz 2.  Both willl be due on Tuesday.  I would also like to THANK ETHAN for bringing Dairy Queen to my third period class.

Tuesday 2/11/14

Today students will be watch two short video clips from youtube.  Then students will be watching a video called a Healthy Constitution and answering some questions that go along with it.  Healthy Constitution

Today we will be taking a vocabulary quiz on the Chapter 8 vocabulary.   The rest of the period will be spent working on the Bill of Rights Mural.  The Bill of Rights Mural is due on Monday.   The Bill of Rights requirements are as follows:   1. Wednesday 2/5/14

Today in class we will be correcting the Ch.8 Vocabulary along with the Forms of Government Packet.  Then will be begin looking at the Bill of Rights.    Students will pick groups and create a mural explaining the Bill of Rights through pictures.  The project will be due on Monday.
